2 MUSIC Festivals Looking For Talent

Hello,

I AM WORKING ON 2 SEPARATE MUSIC FESTIVALS AND THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE A GREAT FORUM TO ATTRACT TALENT.

1. The 10th Annual Great Atlanta Blues & Music Fest. (JULY 25 - 27) "The Big Gig" is the ultimate festival experience that ignites on two stages in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. This annual 3-day music blowout sees over 20,000 fans in attendance throughout the weekend. The 10th Annual Great Atlanta Blues & Music Fest For 2008 has 20 slots reserved for artists who submit online through Sonicbids! (http://www.dr-love.com)

The festival celebrates diversity in music and features hundreds of local, regional and national performers in genres including everything from Blues, Alternative, Country, R&B, Reggae to, Latin and more. Last year's Annual Great Atlanta Blues & Music Fest performers included independent artist from all over America who performed for roughly 30,000 attendees.

2. The Jus` Blues Music Foundation Announces Partnership In association with the Beale Street Merchants Association, The Beale Street Development Corporation and The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Jus` Blues Music Foundation will host Jus` Blues Music Awards Week in downtown Memphis on Beale Street, Wednesday August 6th through Saturday August 9th. Some of the festivities will include the following:

10:00 am Jus` Blues Music Foundation Technology Conference
6:30 pm "Night of the Legends" saluting the 2008 Jus` Blues Music Awards Honorees Dinner, Networking and Fun.
Late After Party

Thursday, August 7
12:00 pm Music Note Ceremony in front of The Historical Daisy honoring the accomplishments of Joe Simon on the Beale Street Walk of Fame
7:00 pm 2008 Jus` Blues Music Awards Show
Late Jus` Blues Music Awards After Party

Friday, August 8
The Beale Street Blues Crawl
For the price of a wristband, party at all the participating bars and clubs all night long on Beale Street showcasing great Blues & Soul music talents.

Saturday, August 8
The BIG Chitlin' Cook-Off and Blues Fest
W.C. Handy Performing Arts Park on Beale Street
Can you smell what the grills are cookin'? Cooks and grillers from all parts will compete for the best chitlin' dishes. Dr. BBQ will be giving samples of his world famous pig tails! Great Blues & Soul music will also be served.

This opportunity is open to ALL musicians and I would encourage any International artist to reach out for both opportunities. Additionally the International Soul Music Summit will be in Atlanta in September and jazz, neo-soul, spoken word artists and companies will be here. I just released a new cd that was recently signed in Japan,"Simply Sacha" it features Chuchito Valdes, Geoffrey Keezer & Red Holloway w/Liner Notes by Karrin Allyson.

INSPIRATIONAL CORNER

"THE NEW JAZZ FAMILY"
Uncle Hugh 'Peanuts' Whalum is my 80 year-old uncle who has FORGOTTEN more about jazz than I've even learned yet! He released his CD "Introducing Hugh 'Peanuts' Whalum" after gigging in the St. Louis scene for over 55 years! Needless to say his voice, his saxophone, his piano... like a fine, aged Merlot. His energy?! I dare not try and keep up. I'm on stage falling asleep by the time he gets going good – cut from a different cloth. Arnette, Coleman, Hamp, Hank... fine cloth.

Why do I bring them up? Because they represent something really important that we now get to enjoy, like they did back then, but now through technology on sites like this, that we've been missing.

The good news, since family – in this case JAZZ FAMILY – and relationships are much more important, more fulfilling... is that I feel RICHER knowing and following you guys music on THE JAZZ NETWORK!

Finding THE JAZZ NETWORK has been an amazing experience for Musique Noire. The opportunity to not only gain exposure among the jazz community, but to also learn and network with others in the jazz world has been invaluable. I am so honored to be on The Jazz Network with so many wonderful and dedicated musicians. Regarding education in jazz, having done Master Classes in many places I find students need to take time and learn from the Masters and LISTEN. They should go back in history to appreciate ALL styles of jazz and its development. They need to learn melodies and lyrics (yes, even instrumentalists need to know lyrics) and that jazz is not just a series of modes and riffs. I think The Jazz Network can be an excellent tool for that also.
