Profile Information

Tell us a little about you....
Bari sax, guitar
Boston, MA
Multi-instrumentalist Glenn Shambroom has explored a wide range of roots music and jazz styles over the last thirty years. Originally from New Jersey, he spent the 70's and 80's working as a guitarist in country and rock & roll bands (primarily with John Lincoln Wright of Boston). By 1985, his focus had shifted to saxophone, and he worked as a tenor and bari sax player in soul and r&b bands. Shambroom has played guitar and bari sax with the Boston band The Love Dogs as a founding member since 1994. The Love Dogs have released four cds of blues, funk, rock & roll, and swing on the ToneCool label, while taking their high energy, good-time brand of r&b on the road throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Glenn's schedule of live gigs with The Love Dogs can be found at thelovedogs.com. In addition to his work with The Love Dogs, Shambroom has released three well received cds of his own: MAKE ROOM FOR SNAPPY (2000), INCLUDE ME OUT (2003), and BAND MATH (2006). Blues Revue Magazine called MAKE ROOM FOR SNAPPY "... an impressive collection of nine energetic sax instrumentals... a beautifully crafted project." Cadence Magazine called it "Snappy from start to finish." JazzReview said "Strong compositions, solid ensemble work, and impressive solos make INCLUDE ME OUT a straight-ahead standout." AllAboutJazz wrote "INCLUDE ME OUT will win you over with boppish swing and smartly crafted arrangements. With his confident swing, shifting arrangements and strong compositions, Shambroom has managed to create a record that is both intelligent and fun." Metronome Magazine wrote "No matter how you punch the numbers, BAND MATH comes up jazzy, swingin' and soulful. Shambroom exhibits an unusual flair to his songwriting, being both a horn player and guitarist. With influences that range from Oliver Nelson and Billy Strayhorn to Jimi Hendrix and Chet Atkins, you're going to get a mixed bag of interesting sounds when Shambroom puts pen to paper." IndieMusic.com called BAND MATH "... a unique, hip-swingin', head swayin' romp through various eras of jazz... it's crackling and popping with energy..." Cadence Magazine wrote of BAND MATH "Shambroom is an agile improviser on guitar and the soprano saxophone, but where he really excels is on the burly baritone sax. Glenn Shambroom should make many more friends with this listener friendly disc." Skope Magazine said "The jazzy style you'll admire in this disc is timeless and hip... BAND MATH flows with ease from slow and chill to punchy and vibrant... the perfect chic jazz album that both diehard traditionalists and modern hipsters will adore." BAND MATH, MAKE ROOM FOR SNAPPY, and INCLUDE ME OUT are all available at CDBaby.

Glenn, I just wanted you to know that I got your CD (in more ways than one ;o) and to thank you for sending it. I dug reading more about you too. We have a lot in common - more to come on that. For now, my ears are having a ball and I'll put in all into words when it gels. It sure would be fun if you lived down the street!

Thanks for the notes and smiles.

Hey Glenn! Thanks for coming by and for your positive comment. Your CD is on rotation and next on deck. I'm really digging it, you'll be hearing from me again soon. I'm still amazed that you play horns and guitar, you must be able to use separate parts of your brain at the same time! Cool combination and cool music.

Keep creating beauty.

Hey Glenn

Really dug the bass clarinet and bari soli. You and the cats really swing hard on everything you do.

It’s a rare occasion when you meet someone who you feel a real connection to … Someone who possesses a kind spirit, unyielding generosity and a dedication to the jazz community beyond expectations.

Jaijai, thank you so much for creating such a fantastic website for the jazz community. You’ve helped artists connect with each other around the world.

I’m proud to have The Jazz Network be the first site to promote my latest recording. Words cannot express my gratitude to you for your dedication to the music and the artists.

With much love and gratitude,

Hi Jaijai,

Stopping by to show you some love and tell you just how much I appreciate all you've been doing here, not just for me but for this incredible community of jazz musicians. I see that The Jazz Network is growing in leaps and bounds daily and want you to know that I recognize the importance of what's going on here, musicians having a place to connect with each other, young musicians having a place to meet and be mentored by musicians who have been around the block. You've created a beautiful space here and it's obvious that folks are feeling very much at home. Thanks for sharing your time, your heart, your soul. This is a huge commitment and you've taken it on with such determination. I wish you and The Jazz Network continued success and support you in all you're doing.

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between us. Love one another, and let the love be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”

This is how I have felt and continue to feel since I joined The Jazz Network on March 4th 2008.
If we look back at our Village Elders one sees how they worked together to achieve and be innovative, and thanks to Jaijai and thejazznetwork.ning we are able to continue on the same path as our Village Elders.

"Thanks to Jaijai for creating this wonderful site. She has drawn on her own extensive history in music to make a truly comfortable place for "unusual" kindred spirits to meet, share and motivate. It's been uplifting, comforting and facinating to meet fellow musicians from cultures and countries around the world."

What a great place you have created, Jaijai. Thank you so much for your dedication and vision. We musicians benefit immensely, as it brings us closer together, allows for many of us to reconnect, or discover each other for the first time. I am still getting acquainted with the enormous benefits of having this independent place for communication between all of us - artists, fans, promoters, etc., and it is a real honor for me to be featured on the Jazz Network Main Page.
