Tell us a little about you....
I'm A Guitarist To The Fullest , If It's Got Strings.... I'll Play It! Including Hearts & Broomsticks!(lol). I Play Both Guitar & Bass, I Started Playing Guitar At 13. I Used To Play It Upside Down Being That My Brother Was Left Handed & I Was Sneaking His Guitar To Play Before He Got Home! Eventually,He Gave Me His Guitar & I Turned The Strings Around & Taught Myself Bass On The First 4 Strings & Chords & Rythm On The Guitar! Although I Don't Read Music , I've Been Blessed To Pick Up Chords & Patterns Quickly By Ear. Aside Playing Guitar & Bass , I Actually Started Out On Keyboards Around The Age Of 7 & Played Percussions With The Local Latino & Africono Players In The Bronx Throggsneck Projects In The Late 60's . I Was Highly Influenced By My Cousin CALVIN (Kickin) WALLACE On Drums . I Can Still Recall The First Time He Took Me In The Basement & Played The Drums To The Beat Of The JB's " ESCAPETISM ", He Was So Free In Motion & Played With Authority & Control That I Knew That This Is What I Wanted To Do For The Rest Of My Life ! My Father & Mother On The Other Hand , Were Great Singers & Songwritters . My Father Had A Smooth Voice Like Billy Eckstine & Prefered Jazz Music Only , While My Mother Sounded So Smooth & Pitch Perfect That She Is Still Uncomparible To Any I've Heard Till This Day ! I Come From A Family Of 6 Musically Inclined Siblings . I Landed My First Singing Contract Around The Age Of 12 , After Performing In Various District Talent Shows In New York . I Had Plans Of Attending The School Of Music & Arts Til My Family Made Plans To Move Down South . At First I Was Angry , But Then Again It Was In The South Where I Began Playing Instruments With Bands Instead Of Singing With Them . Since Then , I've Performed All Around The Coastal Empire Ranging In All Types Of Music . I Began Teaching Vocal Groups Within The Savannah Area & Performed In Hilton Head With Earl Williams (Saxaphone) Band At The BLUE NOTE Lounge . I've Been Writting For Many Years , Trying To Put Across The Sound I'm Hearing In My Head ! My Friend & Partner In Production Mr Keith Glover Invested In Equipment For Me To Record My Music , So All That Your Hearing Is Because Of Him ...... THANK YOU KEITH ! Recently , I Purchased A Guitar Synthesizer To Express What Instrument I Want To Hear On Each Song , Although I'm Still Learning More About It . I've Had The Honour To Have Work With Belated Composer & Producer " OJI PIERCE . I've Also Played On A lot Of Upcoming Atlanta Local's Album Such As The M2o Jazz Album "EPIPHANY" (Bass & Guitar) Headed By JODY MAYFIELD , As Well As Played Bass With & On THE ALAN YATES BAND Album Titled " MINT CONDITION " I'm Currently Working With " ELLIS PHELPS " On His New Sophmore Album.....(Yet To Be Titled) & Making Plans To Tour With "Chi" & THE COLOURED SECTION In The Near Future!Right Now, I Play Guitar With The Heather Hayes Band & A Couple Of Other Local Bands, Besides Playing Bass At My Church. I Also Make A Cameo Appearance In The Movie"THE GOSPEL". I've Been Raised Around A Variety Of Music In The Early 60's In The Bronx . Most Of The Music & Instruments You Hear On this Page Is Totally Me! I'm Just Posting Up My Ideas Raw For Those To Understand The Root Of My Ideas Musically . I Still Surf The Network For The New Vibe, As Well As I Still Listen To The Past To Help Direct My Music Into The Future .......*TiZ*Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It’s a rare occasion when you meet someone who you feel a real connection to … Someone who possesses a kind spirit, unyielding generosity and a dedication to the jazz community beyond expectations.

Jaijai, thank you so much for creating such a fantastic website for the jazz community. You’ve helped artists connect with each other around the world.

I’m proud to have The Jazz Network be the first site to promote my latest recording. Words cannot express my gratitude to you for your dedication to the music and the artists.

With much love and gratitude,
Denise Donatelli

Hi Jaijai,

Stopping by to show you some love and tell you just how much I appreciate all you've been doing here, not just for me but for this incredible community of jazz musicians. I see that The Jazz Network is growing in leaps and bounds daily and want you to know that I recognize the importance of what's going on here, musicians having a place to connect with each other, young musicians having a place to meet and be mentored by musicians who have been around the block. You've created a beautiful space here and it's obvious that folks are feeling very much at home. Thanks for sharing your time, your heart, your soul. This is a huge commitment and you've taken it on with such determination. I wish you and The Jazz Network continued success and support you in all you're doing.

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between us. Love one another, and let the love be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”

This is how I have felt and continue to feel since I joined The Jazz Network on March 4th 2008.
If we look back at our Village Elders one sees how they worked together to achieve and be innovative, and thanks to Jaijai and thejazznetwork.ning we are able to continue on the same path as our Village Elders.

"Thanks to Jaijai for creating this wonderful site. She has drawn on her own extensive history in music to make a truly comfortable place for "unusual" kindred spirits to meet, share and motivate. It's been uplifting, comforting and facinating to meet fellow musicians from cultures and countries around the world."

What a great place you have created, Jaijai. Thank you so much for your dedication and vision. We musicians benefit immensely, as it brings us closer together, allows for many of us to reconnect, or discover each other for the first time. I am still getting acquainted with the enormous benefits of having this independent place for communication between all of us - artists, fans, promoters, etc., and it is a real honor for me to be featured on the Jazz Network Main Page.
