Sonny Rollins is one of the best frineds of John Coltrane since 1947 and most recently my meeting with him was @ Umbria Jazz Perugia, Italy last month.
My photographs of Sonny Rollins have been used for Japanese tour booklet a couple of years ago.

Jimmy Heath, Joe Lovano, Dr. Lonny Smith David Sanborn and Benny Golson are my long time frineds who came to my "Coltrane House of Osaka" seeing my Coltrane memorabilia collection and enjoyeing my wife's cooking.

Anyway, you have many talents - playing instruments and writing notes for media. interesting and keep my eyes open for your next activities. Let me know if you have any chance to come to NYC, where spending my time 2-3 months a year, I will come and cover your show.

keep in touch.

Hello Fuji,

Good to hear from you again. In your message, you mentioned the photographs displayed on my page. I've been quite fortunate to meet some very inspiring people. Those encounters shown in my photos represent some of the most important moments of my life.

Did you see some of your friends in my photos?

Hello Fuji,

Japan holds a special place in my heart, although I've never been there. My father was born in Yokosuka (Naval base), and my grandparents were married in Tokyo. In fact, my grandparents went on their "honeymoon" to the World's Fair in Osaka in 1970. They said it was a beautiful place... unforgettable.

Maybe someday I'll get to travel there too!

Best wishes,

Mikayla

HI Marla
So nice hearing from you and you are Friend of Hall one of my best frineds who know Coltrane much better than me.
Well, I am in NYC and going to La Guardia airport within a couple of hours so that no time to write you, very sorry about it
However we are very struggling to preserve it because no Volunteers, no money.
Nothing new right now.

I didn't take any picture of Coltrane nor Home but I have been buying photos from photographer since 1988 and my collection becomes over 2,000 and ready to donate to The Home.
It will be taken over 30 years from now open it for public.
Thank you for your interest and support on this project and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes always

Hi Fuji,

Looking forward to hearing more information about the preservation of John Coltrane's last home in Dix Hills. I just made a small contribution and will continue to do so when my finances allow. I'm hoping the full renovation can take place soon and I'll be one of the first folks driving down from the Boston area to visit.

I believe we may have a mutual friend - Hal Miller.

By the way, thank you very much for allowing your pictures of Coltrane's home to be posted at the dixhills.com site. Each time I go back there to look, I am so grateful to be able to see a little bit of his and his family's personal life.

Best,
Marla

It’s a rare occasion when you meet someone who you feel a real connection to … Someone who possesses a kind spirit, unyielding generosity and a dedication to the jazz community beyond expectations.

Jaijai, thank you so much for creating such a fantastic website for the jazz community. You’ve helped artists connect with each other around the world.

I’m proud to have The Jazz Network be the first site to promote my latest recording. Words cannot express my gratitude to you for your dedication to the music and the artists.

With much love and gratitude,

Hi Jaijai,

Stopping by to show you some love and tell you just how much I appreciate all you've been doing here, not just for me but for this incredible community of jazz musicians. I see that The Jazz Network is growing in leaps and bounds daily and want you to know that I recognize the importance of what's going on here, musicians having a place to connect with each other, young musicians having a place to meet and be mentored by musicians who have been around the block. You've created a beautiful space here and it's obvious that folks are feeling very much at home. Thanks for sharing your time, your heart, your soul. This is a huge commitment and you've taken it on with such determination. I wish you and The Jazz Network continued success and support you in all you're doing.

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between us. Love one another, and let the love be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”

This is how I have felt and continue to feel since I joined The Jazz Network on March 4th 2008.
If we look back at our Village Elders one sees how they worked together to achieve and be innovative, and thanks to Jaijai and thejazznetwork.ning we are able to continue on the same path as our Village Elders.

"Thanks to Jaijai for creating this wonderful site. She has drawn on her own extensive history in music to make a truly comfortable place for "unusual" kindred spirits to meet, share and motivate. It's been uplifting, comforting and facinating to meet fellow musicians from cultures and countries around the world."

What a great place you have created, Jaijai. Thank you so much for your dedication and vision. We musicians benefit immensely, as it brings us closer together, allows for many of us to reconnect, or discover each other for the first time. I am still getting acquainted with the enormous benefits of having this independent place for communication between all of us - artists, fans, promoters, etc., and it is a real honor for me to be featured on the Jazz Network Main Page.
